Is your DE Food Grade?

Food Grade DE is a simple classification; It must be of fresh water origin and untreated. This ensures it consists of amorphous Silica as apposed to crystalline silica.

 

Our DE is from a fresh water deposit, sun-dried and untreated. The MCC as well as the department of agriculture have approved our DE. Within the Food Grade label Eco-Earth has purified its DE to varying degrees for different application from soil ammendment to human consumption.

Industrial grade DE is either salt water DE or fresh water DE that has been heat treated or chemically treated which makes it crystalline Silica and carcinogenic.

What is the Herxheimer Reaction

Consuming DE can often be followed by the Herxheimer Reaction:

A reaction to endotoxin-like products released by the death of harmful microorganismswithin the body during detox treatment. In this case the dosage can be reduced and increased water consumption would assist. 

 

 

Can I expect any side effects or symptoms ?

Diatomaceous Earth is generally well tolerated and is not a laxative. Should you experience constipation, the dosage can be decreased.

What is the colour of your DE?

Eco-Earth DE is characterized by its beige to pinkish colour which is evident of its purity and high bio-available Silica content. 

Colour variation can occur as it is a natural product from the earth, millions of years old and depending on the influences during formation it can range from grey to white to beige to brown.

Most Food grade DE on the internet is white as it comes from the Nevada desert where is has been bleached by the sun.

What is the difference between the product and their grades?

Our DE is all Food Grade DE but we refine the raw material to varying degrees for various applications.

Our least refined is the fertilizer grade then Feed Grade then Pet Grade and Finally our Premium Grade for human consumption.

Which one should I use as a pesticide in the garden?

Our Eco-Feed 20kg Bags is the most economical product for garden use and high application rate purposes for insect control.

Eco-Home can be used for hobbyist gardens and homes and pets.

 

 

Is it dangerous to inhale?

DE is not toxic in any way but no dust, be it farm dust or nutritional powder, is good to inhale. DE is just the same; avoid excess inhalation of the powder.
