Safe and Healthy Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth

The term ‘Diatomaceous earth’ (DE) refers to a sedimentary mineral that results from the deposition of silica-rich unicellular life forms known as ‘diatoms’.
Diatoms are aquatic algae, and hence DE forms in water staying close to the surface where they form part of the abundant plankton in both salt and fresh water.
The cell walls of these dead diatoms consist of amorphous silica (SiO2.H2O). The fossilised skeletal remains (frustules) vary in size but are typically 10 to 200 microns across and have a broad variety of shapes.
What does “Food Grade DE ” mean?
Food grade DE is different from industrial grade DE, aka pool grade, because it is amorphous silica rather than crystalline silica. Amorphous silica is natural, untreated DE from fresh water deposits whereas industrial grade DE is most often from salt water deposits and is heat treated to over 1000 degrees Celsius turning it into crystalline silica giving it a glass like quality which makes it carcinogenic.
What is DE
Our DE is all Food Grade and is only sourced from high quality fresh water deposits and has a multitude of safe, organic and Eco-friendly uses.
It must be understood that DE consumed by humans and animals must be fresh water DE, composed of 80-90% amorphous silica, Aka “Food Grade DE”.
There are many uses for Eco-Earth natural Diatomaceous Earth (DE) products in homes, gardens, all around the farm, and in the agriculture industry.
The benefits of DE as a natural animal feed supplement are well-established in practice. Natural DE powders have been used by farmers for centuries.
With the increasing popularity of organic and sustainable living & farming methods, farmers, homeowners, gardeners, and pet owners are re-discovering the benefit of natural methods of controlling insects and improving their animals’ health.
